How You Can Help

There are several ways in which you can help us save the lives of these wonderful dogs:

Volunteer!

We always desperately need foster families who can open their hearts and homes to a needy German Shepherd Dog. If you think you could offer a temporary home (from a week or two up to a month or two for each dog) then PLEASE call or email us! All you have to provide is a warm bed, food and some TLC! Serendipity GSD Rescue (SGSDR) covers all veterinary and other related expenses.

We also need volunteers to help us:

• Transport dogs when needed (usually on the weekends)
• Visit Shelters to evaluate dogs that are waiting to come into our rescue program
• Take dogs to and from the vet
• Offer to exercise and help train rescue dogs in and around your city
• Conduct home visits for potential adopters
• Maintain our database by providing data entry
• Help with newsletter / mailings
• Help to organize fundraisers and events

Donate!

Serendipity German Shepherd Dog Rescue (SGSDR) is a non-profit organization and as such we rely solely on individual donations, pet adoption donations and fundraising activities to defer the costs of veterinary care, food and other items needed for our rescued dogs.

Our organization is recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 charitable organization, which allows all donations to be tax deductible.

100% of your donations benefit our rescue dogs. All SGSDR volunteers give their time and efforts to help rescue dogs without compensation.

Our Wish List

• Large heavy duty dog toys; Nylabones, Rope Toys, Kong
• Dog Beds, used Blankets and/or Comforters
• Collars (with metal hardware/buckles)
• Leashes
• Crates - any size, but extra large is most useful.
• Premium Dog Food or pet store gift cards
• Pet stain eliminator such as Natures Miracle, Simple Solution or similar
• Other general pet supplies – Please ask if you have something to donate, as we will most likely be able to use whatever you are willing to donate.
• Used Cell phones and ink cartridges which we recycle

Sponsor a Rescue Dog!

Prior to adoption to their new families all our rescued GSDs are spayed or neutered along with receiving their required vaccinations and heartworm medication. Some of our dogs may also require treatment for acquired respiratory, skin or heartworm infections that can cost as much, if not more than the routine sterilization and vaccinations.

Our adoption fee does help us recover some of these costs, but you can help as well by donating to sponsor a dog for our spay/neuter and vaccination program. We will provide pictures of your sponsored dog, along with updates on their road to adoption with their new family.
